The transformation of the interior corridors of 2300 Parkhaven Dr, Halton Condominium Corporation No. 387, in Oakville, didn’t happen by accident. It took a dedicated team of residents, a knowledgeable and involved property manager and a great design team.
The impetus behind the project was directly tied to neighbourhood real-estate. A neighbouring building had recently completed a corridor renovation project and when it came time to address their corridors the Board at HCC 387 wanted to make a statement. Reina Fernandes, of Maple Ridge Community Management, contacted CPL condominium design interiors to meet with the Board and assess the building’s design requirements. Kevin Dutcher met with the Board and developed a design package that fit both the design requirements and the Corporations reserve fund. Though the building only had four floors the design needed to be impactful and fashionable.
The Board wanted to address the four residential corridors along with the Party Room therefore the design scheme needed to flow throughout the building. In the corridors Kevin addressed the painting, lighting and flooring. The key to the design was the custom printed carpet: a bold play on a traditional design pattern. As the corridors were linear in nature Kevin created panels in the carpet to reduce the linear appearance of the corridors. He then tied the carpet into the walls by using a co-ordinating granite on the walls surrounding the elevators. Next the walls were painted to capture the underlying tones in the carpet. The lighting was changed to a stylish energy saving fixture updating the builder’s basic fixtures. Once completed, the project updated the building catapulting the condominium into the spotlight with both owners and neighbours alike.
